The Chancery Clerk’s Office is the official “record keeper” for the County. From Adoptions to Estates. Our office records the present and protects the County’s past. In a typical week, our staff handles all types of land and court records, such as: Deeds of Trust, Deeds, Oil Leases, Power of Attorneys, Military Discharges, Federal Tax Liens, Bonds and Oaths, Lis Pendens and Construction Liens. Our court records consist of: Wills, Estates, Guardianships/Conservatorships, Divorces, DHS Matters and Child Support, Adoptions, Mental and Drug/Alcohol Commitments and Youth Court
Our office collects Copiah County past due Ad Valorem taxes.
Our office is open to the public for in house Genealogical Searches as well as online. (County formed 1823 to present).
The Clerk also serves as the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors (Recorder of Minutes) and is the Treasurer for the County.
But you don’t have to get dusty digging through the files in the vault. All County Land Records and Wills are online and this office is part of the MS Electronic Court System.
